PL Records That Might Be Broken in 2025

by Gus

The Premier League features some of the very best talents in football across the globe. The competition is always full of excitement, surprises, and historical moments. Year-in, year-out, the game provides new challenges and the players keep trying to break indelible records. And by 2025, there will be a good number considering different existing records in the Premier League that are prone to destruction.

1. Most Goals Scored in a Premier League Season

Currently, the record for most goals scored in a single Premier League season is held by Mohamed Salah with 32 goals during the 2017-2018 season. But, this record always haunts several world-class footballers, most especially those who have consistently scored goals in the past years.

Erling Haaland, who joined Manchester City in 2022, has already set the stage alight in English football. He scored 36 goals in the 2022-23 campaign to break the record for most goals in a 38-game Premier League season astonishing achievement. By his potency at finishing and his propensity to be in the right place at the right time, most assume that Haaland is more than capable of busting this record if he carries on with this goal-scoring form into 2025. By adapting quickly to the league yet still finding the net regularly, they could well put him in charge of the record-setting future when it comes to most goals in a Premier League season.

2. Most Premier League Games Played

Another prestigious record that is bound to be broken in 2025 is that for the most appearances in the Premier League. The record is held by Ryan Giggs at 802 appearances. This Giggs spent all of his playing days in Manchester United colors and was one such personification of a continuing career as well as consistency in the Premier League.

But certainly, James Milner, the most experienced player in this league, is fast catching up with that number. Milner already has more than 600 Premier League matches under his name and still runs at a high level and could probably hit the milestone set by Giggs if he continues playing for a few more seasons. Given his ability to play in multiple positions and his fitness levels, Milner could extend his career and perhaps even challenge Giggs’ record by 2025.

3. The Most Goals by a Player in the Premier League

Alan Shearer is the current record holder in terms of most goals scored in Premier League history. He has scored 260 goals over his career. The record possesses among the toughest standards for breaking, as this figure has taken Shearer a long time to reach. Harry Kane is doing quite steadily, though, to climb the document on the all-time goal-scoring chart.

As of the year 2025, Kane has been one of the most significant scorers in Premier League history, scoring above 200 goals. If he doesn’t get injuries and maintains his high form, it is very likely that before he retires, Kane will outscore Shearer. Given that Kane’s finishes have been that clinical and consistent, it wouldn’t be surprising if the record were claimed by him in the next few seasons, and perhaps as early as 2025.

4. Most Goals in a Premier League Calendar Year

The most prolific scorer in any one year of the Premier League calendar was Mohamed Salah in 2018, with 32 goals scored that year. That record has proven difficult to breach, as very few have come close over the following years. One of these who could potentially rewrite this record by the year 2025 is Erling Haaland.

He was always going to take the record, and considering his current rise and raucous accolades coming, it seems only likely that he will break this record. His quickfire goals for Manchester City over the last couple of seasons have been lasting evidence he can perform at a high level year-round. If he is uninterrupted and gets the type of service from teammates, Haaland easily could exceed Salah in 2025 with a record of 32 goals in one calendar year to cement his position as one of the best strikers in the world.

5. Most Consecutive Wins in a Premier League Season

Currently, the record for the highest number of consecutive wins in a single Premier League season is held by Manchester City, coached by Pep Guardiola. They achieved 18 consecutive victories in the 2017-2018 season. Such achievement is outstanding, and it involves near to flawless performance for a long series of matches.

Of course, with teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City performing really consistently on the very top levels, the chances of breaking the record here would be extremely high. An ideal run in the 2024-2025 season would probably need to be constructed by one of these top clubs; Arsenal, with their really young and talented squad, could be the team to break this record if they manage to maintain consistency across the entire season.

6. Most Clean Sheets in a Premier League Season

This record is held by Petr Čech, with 24 clean sheets in a season for Chelsea in 2004-2005. A monumental achievement, it requires not just an exceptional goalkeeper, but also a very solid defensive unit in front of him.

Two contenders for this record-breaking attempt are currently Alisson Becker of Liverpool and Ederson of Manchester City. Their form over the last few seasons has shown how well they’ve been performing and maintaining consistency. If either Alisson or Ederson can maintain this form and have a solid defense lineup in front of him, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to think either of them could break this clean sheet record in the 2024-2025 season.

7. It was the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history

The record was set by Sadio Mané, who scored a hat-trick in 2 minutes and 56 seconds for Liverpool against Aston Villa in 2015. This is a record that might be endangered in the next seasons with the fastest and possibly most explosive attacking players in the world in the Premier League capable of writing a new chapter in history.

The conclusion is that there is an exciting prospect for breaking Premier League records going forward to 2025. The competition changes every minute as goal scoring records and team records are broken now and then. There are bound to be dramatic changes ahead in the record books with players like Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Alisson Becker and teams like Manchester City and Arsenal leaving their marks behind.
